Over the two weeks of the tournament, however, as the Wolverines won their first five games to advance to the championship game, the starting lineup became known as the Fab Five, the most famous quintet to come from Michigan since the Temptations. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!ġ6 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.1 So, since the Law contains no more than a reflection of the good things which were still to come, and no true image of them, it is quite incapable of bringing the worshippers to perfection, by means of the same sacrifices repeatedly offered year after year.Ģ Otherwise, surely the offering of them would have stopped, because the worshippers, when they had been purified once, would have no awareness of sins.ģ But in fact the sins are recalled year after year in the sacrifices.Ĥ Bulls' blood and goats' blood are incapable of taking away sins,ĥ and that is why he said, on coming into the world: You wanted no sacrifice or cereal offering, but you gave me a body.Ħ You took no pleasure in burnt offering or sacrifice for sin ħ then I said, 'Here I am, I am coming,' in the scroll of the book it is written of me, to do your will, God.Ĩ He says first You did not want what the Law lays down as the things to be offered, that is: the sacrifices, the cereal offerings, the burnt offerings and the sacrifices for sin, and you took no pleasure in them ĩ and then he says: Here I am! But Christ will in nowise cast out any who are willing to come to him.ġ3 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone's account where there is no law.ġ4 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.ġ5 But the gift is not like the trespass. Through the grace of God, the gift by grace has abounded to many through Christ yet multitudes choose to remain under the dominion of sin and death, rather than to apply for the blessings of the reign of grace. As by the offence of one, sin and death prevailed to the condemnation of all men, so by the righteousness of one, grace prevailed to the justification of all related to Christ by faith. ![]() Notwithstanding the differences, there is a striking similarity.
